The endings that outlive the screen
Why an affecting ending does not need an answer for every question.
An ending is not a checklist. Sometimes it is enough to know that a character has changed, even when the world around them remains unresolved.
The small space after a final scene lets the viewer complete the work with something from their own experience.
That is why some endings stay: they did not close the door completely, but changed how we look at what remains behind it.
